Sunday Best

Here is Matthew last Sunday sporting the very cute hat, tie, and shirt his Uncle Scott and Aunt Jill got him for his birthday.  Love it!

Swim Suit Modeling ~ 2010 Edition

We are getting excited in our household to head to the "beach" in just 2 months!  Our annual Hilton Head vacation with the Selzer clan.  Matthew has quite the array of swim suits yet again this year.  Most of them are from my friend Jodi's "garage sale" that I only spent a buck or two on each.  My little dude will be styin' this summer at the water park as well.  Matthew had fun trying them all on...well sort of...most of the time!

Mini Green Velvet Cupcakes

When I saw these posted on TastyKitchen, I knew I had to make them for St. Patrick's Day.  I think they are the most cute and clever St. Patrick's Day treats ever!  How can you go wrong with a GREEN mini cupcake, and cream cheese frosting sprinkled with yellow sprinkles and gold pearl dust for that "pot 'o gold" look?  Not only are they adorable, they are extremely yummy as well.  These little darlings were created by Jenny over at Picky Palate.  Check out her awesome blog as well. Here is a link to the recipe.

Here are the the cute shamrock cupcake liners, the sprinkles/gold pearl dust, and the icing coloring I used instead of the green paste.

The awesome decorating set from Sur La Table by Kuhn Rikon...the dual-chamber decorating tube sold me.

Matthew has a great time licking the batter...

Ready to bake...such a nice bright green!

All set to frost with my new "toy"...I love it!

Ready to serve them to our Life Group Wednesday evening...

A nice close-up so you can see the sprinkles on top...

My little "Leprechaun" approves of the treat...

New Toddler Bedding

We having been tossing the idea around that Matthew might be ready to make the move to a toddler bed.  Since we had the bed, why not give it a try?  Matthew did take a nap in a toddler bed once while visiting my parents a couple months ago.  I also have been anxious to decorate more of a "boy" themed room, since our nursery is painted in a pale yellow (we never knew what gender baby we would have), and a has a cutesy lamb theme.  Perfectly gender neutral for a baby, but now that he is over 2 it is time for more big boy decor.  I was at Target yesterday and scored big time on some toddler bedding.  I really didn't want to spend much since he would only be using it for a year or more.  I spotted some cute sports themed toddler "bedding in a bag" for $22!  Included in the bag is a comforter, fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillowcase.  Then I saw a fun rug that would match, that was on sale for $20 off it's original price.  In fact, all their kid/toddler stuff is on sale right now.  My how I love finding the deals!  I am still "up in the air" if I will paint his room soon or not.  The yellow doesn't go, but it doesn't look horrible either, and if I do paint the room, then the "nursery" would be gone...sniff, sniff...(But that's a whole other post, on if we plan to have another baby or not...we are leaving that in God's hands right now...) We do have a third bedroom, but I really want to keep it a "guest room" as long as possible.  Then there is the closet situation in our house, but I digress, and this post is suppose to be about cute toddler bedding!

Here is Matthew super excited about seeing his "new" bed!

Matthew is enjoying playing in his bed...

Chris is saying Matthew's night time prayers, and he looks all fine and snuggled in for the night...

As I was leaving the room, saying goodnight, all looks good...(Love the padding for the inevitable "thunk" in the middle of the night?)

But what is this???
Here is Matthew's room this morning...the crib went right back into his room last night after we tried for a good while to console a wildly upset 2 year old, who wasn't quite sure about all the "newness" of the bed and everything.  No sooner than a minute after I shut the door after saying good night, we hear him start to cry, and bang on the bedroom door wanting to come out.   Oh well, we shall try again soon, and I know he'll do fine.  It might just take a day or so of adjusting.  Parenting is never dull.

Signs of Spring Coming!

The first 6 days of March were beautiful!  All above 40 degrees, and sunny!  This is a big deal when it has been below freezing for so long, and the snow has been on the ground all winter.  Yesterday we took Matthew outside to play when he woke up from his nap, and he loved being outside in his new rain coat and boots (that I got from a friend's garage sale).  You can even see the grass just starting to have a hint of green.  So excited for Spring to come!

Check Up and Toddler Talk

This past week Matthew went in for his 2 year check up.  Everything went well.  He weighed in at 28 pounds (50%tile), and is 34 1/2 inches tall (just over 50%tile).  Here he is sporting some big boy undies (no, not potty trained yet...)  I think these Tiger undies are a hoot, so I had to try them on him...

Matthew is also getting better at the talking thing, especially when he knows he can get what he wants by asking.  Whenever he wants to watch a particular show he know knows he can ask.   He shouts out: Boo Cuuus (Blues Clues), Choo Choo (Thomas the Train), Hiya! (Veggies Tales:  Sumo of the Opera) for the particular DVD he would like.  He also has been saying "What!?!", in a pretty funny way over the past two weeks.  Got to love toddlers as they learn to talk...
